3 Ways To Use Green Tea For Ultimate Glowing Skin

When it comes to skincare, we know that it is impossible to figure out ‘the perfect routine’ that works for us throughout the year. In fact, our skin is the first to respond to seasonal changes which is why it is important to constantly update our skincare routine. Since summer is here, I am pampering my skin by using homemade face masks. I love homemade face masks; they are easy to whip up and I can use any ingredient that suits my skin. We all know that our pantry is the best place to find the most effective ingredients. And I have found something that works like magic on the skin- Green Tea. Today, I am sharing with you three green tea face mask recipes for glowing skin. You can apply these face masks once or twice a week to keep your skin clear and healthy.

You’ve probably heard about the benefits of green tea. It is one of the most popular drinks in the world and is widely known for its health benefits. However, you will be surprised to know that it is also a common ingredient found in many beauty products. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants that are great for the skin. Epigallocatechin Gallate, commonly known as EGCG is a very effective antioxidant that protects the skin from environmental damage and helps in keeping it healthy.

Since it is so beneficial for the skin, I try to include green tea in my DIY recipes. Some of you may remember the Green Tea Body Scrub Recipe I had shared a few weeks back. Coming back to Green Tea Face Masks, you can customize them by adding other ingredients of your choice like banana, lemon, orange peel or rice flour. Most of us battle oily skin in summers and these masks are perfect for preventing breakouts. Besides, the addition of ingredients like fuller’s earth, honey, and yogurt makes these recipes super nourishing. Besides using these face masks, you can also follow some simple beauty tips in summers to keep your skin healthy.

* Green Tea – Honey Face Mask

1 Tbsp. Moist Green Tea

This is the simplest face mask that you can use on your skin. Cut open one tea bag and mix one tablespoon green tea leaves and honey to form a paste. Apply this mask on the face and leave for 20 minutes. Rub your face with wet hands in circular motions and wash off with warm water. That’s it! You will notice that your skin will instantly look and feel better!

Honey is an excellent moisturizing agent and it also soothes irritated, sunburnt skin. When combined with the goodness of green tea, it makes an excellent face mask that improves skin texture. Since honey and green tea have anti-aging properties, this face mask can also be used for improving skin elasticity.

* Green Tea-Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti) Face Mask

1 Tbsp. Green Tea
1 Tbsp. Fuller’s Earth (Multani Mitti)
1/2 Tbsp. Honey
Rose Water

Mix green tea, honey, fuller’s earth and make a paste using rose water. The consistency of the face mask should neither be thick nor runny. Apply on the face for 30 minutes and wash off with water.

This face mask is exactly what my skin needs in summers. Fuller’s earth nourishes the skin and keeps it free of pimples. As you may know, my skin is dry in winters and normal to dry in summers. So, I prefer to add honey to this mixture. However, you can skip adding honey to this face pack if you have oily skin.

You can also alter this recipe by adding sandalwood (Chandan) powder. It helps in tan removal, lightening the blemishes and preventing breakouts.

* Green Tea- Yogurt Face Mask

1 Tbsp. Green Tea
1 Tbsp. Yogurt

Make a smooth paste by mixing green tea in yogurt and apply on the face for 30 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water.

Yogurt is a great cleanser, it gently removes impurities and sloughs away dead cells. It is also a rich source of protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals that provide deep nourishment besides repairing the skin.
