The East and the South West direction of the house deal with the good health of the elderly. In case there is vaastudosha in this direction; their bedroom is not in the proper direction, or there is some vaastu defect in the interiors of the room, it directly affects the health, age and relationship of the seniors with the rest of the family members.
* Keep the South West side elevated and heavy. This helps the elderly in managing the reins of the household and ensures their importance in the house remains intact. It also keeps a check on their health, maintains peace and prosperity and prevents problems.
* The East side should be open, slightly sunken and always clean. Having windows in this direction is considered lucky. Keeping them open allows positive energy to enter the house. Constructing a store, toilet, staircase, higher floors, or planting tall trees in this direction leads to serious vastudoshas. These doshas may lead your children disrespecting the elderly as well.
* The room of the head of the family and that of the family seniors should be located in the South West or South. However, if the elders have retired from work and now spend time in spiritual and religious pursuits, they could be allotted a room in the North East, East or North as well. In case there is no extra bedroom, the bed can be placed in the South West part of the living room.
* If the bedroom of the senior (especially a lady) is located in the South East (fire corner), it could lead to a lot of unrest owing to short temper. Similarly, if his/her room is in the North West, the senior may fall sick and become a source of concern for the entire family.
* The head of the bed should be in the East direction. If this isn't possible, the direction can also be changed to South.
* Important documents, finance-related papers, money, jewellery, etc should be kept in a cupboard placed in the South West corner of the room, along with garments for daily use.
* Religious books and other literature should be kept on a shelf in the West.
* It is quite natural to have health-related problems with increasing age. But ensure that all medical papers, reports, prescriptions and medicines are kept in a cupboard or shelf that is midway between the North and North East. If the same are kept in the South or South West corner, the person's health may deteriorate and he may even become critical.
* Light yellow and cream are recommended by way of paint and soft furnishings. These lead to an interest in religious matters and promote good thoughts and well-being. If the person doesn't like these colours, you could opt for pale green and white.
* Images of gods to the East, ancestors and family members who have passed on to the South and photographs of the elders blessing younger members of the family to the West of South West will create a lot of positivity.
