Maha Mrutyunjaya mantraॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्
उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात्This Shiva mantra glorified as Trayambakam mantra or Rudra mantra was chanted by Markhandeya to attain immortality. Markhandeya was born to a saintly couple who were blessed by Shiva with the progeny. Unfortunately the fate of the boy would last only for sixteen years. Having known this, the parents were grieving.
