According to hindu mythological calender Shravan Maas, the fifth month, is considered one of the holiest months for hindus. Shravan Maas or Sawan falls between July - August every year. In Hindu calendar this month is dedicated to Lord Shiva, therefore it is considered auspicious to worship Lord Shiva during this month to seek his blessings. Devotees keep various fasts during this month to please lord Shiva.
Sawan Somvar Vrat Katha is recited during this Vrat, which signifies the journey of Shiva from life to eternity.To impress Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha you should avpid these 5 things-
1. One should not eat or consume any kind of alcohol during the fast. As this will make the lord and angry and there will we no point of keeping the fast.
2. Shaving should be avoided during this month.
3. Breaking the fast in-between or not carrying it until completion should be avoided.
