Don’t we wish we could be 18 forever? Or at least fool people in thinking so. Unfortunately, we have to face the fact that we aren’t part of the Cullen vampire hood. They make it look so easy to be a 120-year old, and not have a wrinkle to prove it.
There are few ways to slow down the signs of aging.
# Green tea for the years There are multiple reasons to start having green tea. It benefits our hair, provides antioxidants to our body, and aids weight loss. New studies suggest that it even helps with skin rejuvenation. Green tea contains a compound known as EGCG (a type of catechin). This particular compound was responsible to reactive dying skin cells. Get with the program!
# Follow a skincare routine Haven’t got a routine set yet? It’s never late to start. Our skin loves a daily pamper routine. The skin needs discipline to be flawless and radiant. Having a good skincare definitely slows down visible aging signs.
A quick morning routine would need a cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer/ sunscreen. Take it up a notch with a toner.
During our sleep, the skin has time to distress and repair itself. There are no environmental sources to disturb us. This is the time we could do a little damage control. Focus on hydration and nourishment. An easy routine would be cleanse, exfoliant, moisturize, and a little eye cream. A well hydrated face in the night will work wonders for the skin the next morning.
# Coats and coats of sunblockThis deserves a special mention. Why didn’t we listen to our mothers, and lather up on sunscreen through the years? One of the main reasons for visible aging signs is due to sun damage.
Even indoors, sunrays are quite persistent. They will find a way to reach us. Apply a coat even when you’re under a roof.
Do whatever is needed to combat the sun. Walk with an umbrella, or wear wide-brimmed hats.
Buy a sunscreen that’s suitable for the climate in your location. A golden rule to follow is to reapply sun protection every 2-3 hours.
# Vitamins to combatagingA healthy body slows down the aging process. Here are some age-fighting vitamins to add to your diet.
-
Vitamin A: This is responsible for healthy eyes and skin. It also reduces the breaking down of collagen. Find them in kale, carrots, sweet potato, and dark leafy greens.
-
Vitamin C: This is a great antioxidant for your body. It boosts the immune system, and protects the skin from sun damage. Incorporate bell peppers, cantaloupe, strawberries, and kiwi into your diet.
-
Vitamin E: This is another powerful antioxidant. When combined with vitamin C, it gives better protection against the sun. It helps with anti-inflammation, and helps fighting free radicals. It’s found in almonds, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, and spinach.
-
Vitamin K: This is known to protect you from dark circles and puffy eyes. It’s also great for keeping your skin thick. Brocoli, collards, onions, and herbs are good sources for vitamin K.
# Add herbs to the dietHerbs add an interesting flavour to the meal. They are packed with antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory properties. Add them to your soups, or salads.
