Now that the winter months are upon us and the days are much colder and shorter, it’s time to start thinking about ways to protect your hair from damage. From pollution to excess use of products, your hair has to go through so much in a day. And then you have to wake up the next day, ready to look fabulous. Seems exhausting? It won’t be if you follow these 5 simple tips before bed. These tips are easy to do, cheap and don’t take up much of your time either. Read on how to take care of your tresses.
* Opt for Hair VolumizersFrom Hollywood to Bollywood, celebs and hairstylists are aiming for volumizing hairstyles that make your hair look ‘big’ with minimal efforts. But you can get that look with the help of some needed back brushing, sprays and hair volumizers. Spray some on your damp hair right before bed and tie a ponytail and roll it into a bun. The next morning, all you need to do is open your hair and you’ll have natural looking bouncy hair.
* Dry Shampoo At NightSpray on dry shampoo in the night before bed. This gives your hair enough time to absorb into your hair. Applying it overnight saves your time to brush away any leftovers the next morning. It’s a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at the difference a good shampoo makes to your volume goals. Also go easy on the conditioner. Only apply it to the bottom half or third of your hair and remember to rinse it off thoroughly.
* Apply Hair MasksBefore you hit the sack, nourish your hair as well. This gives your hair ample time to take in all the nutrients and benefits of the hair mask. Apply the hair mask and cover your hair with a shower cap. You can make a hair mask of cucumber juice for added coolness. Grate the cucumber and take out its juice. Now apply it on the hair roots and wash it after about 1 hour. If you do this regularly, your hair will grow faster.
* Don’t Sleep With Damp HairSleeping with wet or damp hair is a bad idea. Damp hair is prone to frizz and damage cuticles. Wet hair is hard to style the next morning since it ends up drying in funny shapes and waves. A good way is to dry your hair and tie it loosely on the top of your head.
* Use Silk Pillowcases
Switch your regular pillowcases for silk ones. Cotton pillowcases tend to absorb your natural oils and roughen up your hair cuticles. This leads to breakage and damage to your cuticles. Silk cases are softer, smoother and cause less friction in general. This helps your hair retain natural oils and keeps your hair silky the next day even with all the tossing and turning.
