We all want to have hair like Rapunzel, don’t we? Those shiny, long locks are the envy of so many! But as we all know, getting a lustrous mane is not as easy as it sounds. It takes a lot of hard work, and if you are prepared for all the effort, then you might not be far off from achieving your dream. We are lucky because there are so many products available today, especially hair oils, that work wonders for your mane. Here’s a word of caution: not every hair oil is going to help you!
If you are in a fix, worry not! We are here to make your life much simpler by telling you the hair oils you must completely avoid, because they cause immense hair fall. Yes, you heard it right.
# Mineral oilOnce only available abroad, they are available in abundance in India today! But ladies, as good as it may sound, mineral oil is often disguised as petroleum, white petroleum, paraffin, liquid paraffin, and paraffin wax. This ingredient is the worst for your hair, because it causes excess buildup on the strands and scalp, and leads to hair fall. It will also weigh down your hair, and leave them pretty much dull and flat. So, do not purchase this hair oil at all.
# Lemon oilThere are many who say that lemon oil works well for them, because of its lightening and brightening properties. But guess what? We’d ask you to steer clear of this oil, please! One of the biggest reasons is its acid level, which causes the hair shaft to shrink. And if you are already struggling with hair loss, then this oil is definitely not for you. It will make your hair look even thinner, lifeless, dry and oh-so-brittle!
# Olive oilShocked to hear this? So are we! Although olive oil is supposed to be great for the hair shaft, it weighs down your locks and makes them look greasy. And most of us might be unaware of this, olive oil is comedogenic in nature—which means it causes clogging of pores and leads to acne. Your hair will feel scratchy and you’d want to keep washing it off. And that will end up damaging your hair, and also cause thinning. Now, you don’t want that right?
# Camphor oilAnother oil that claims to increase hair growth but actually does the opposite is camphor oil. It causes your scalp to dry out and also sometimes leads to acne, rashes and fungal infections. With so much and more going on, your hair is clearly not going to feel as healthy, and you might end up damaging it more than doing any good. So ladies, we suggest you completely avoid camphor oil.
# Castor oilLast but not the least, castor oil is another oil that must be avoided, even though the beauty and hair world seems to swear by its benefits. The problem with using this oil on your strands is that it causes acute hair felting that further leads to frizzy hair and more entanglement. And that’s again going to be harsh on your hair, which means you will end up with hair loss!
