5 Simple Steps To Blow Your Hair at Home

Blow-drying your hair can be quite a hassle, even with the most compact hair dryers. Often, it doesn’t turn out the way you want, leaving you frustrated with aching hands.

However, frequent salon visits for a blowout can become extremely costly, so learning how to do it yourself at home can save you a lot of money.

How To Blow Dry Your Hair At Home: A 5-Step Guide

If you're aiming to add volume and body to your straight hair or lift at the roots, blow-drying can help since straight hair tends to air-dry quite flat. Here’s a step-by-step guide to achieve a salon-worthy blowout at home:

Step 1

Begin by applying a heat protectant throughout your hair. If you have thin hair, avoid the roots. Wait until your hair is about 50-80% dry before starting with the blow dryer. Dry your hair in sections, starting from the bottom and working your way up by unclipping sections from the top.

Step 2

Hold a round brush vertically and roll it away from your face, working your way to the ends of your hair.

Step 3

Once a section is dry, re-roll it on the brush and repeat the process. If your hair doesn’t hold the curl, let it cool on the brush to set the curl.

Step 4

When the section is completely dry, twist your hair as you pull it out of the brush instead of simply unrolling it. This technique helps create a bouncy curl.

Step 5

For added volume and lift at the crown, hold the brush horizontally and lift it straight up while blow-drying the section backwards. Finish by running your fingers through your hair for a natural look.
