“Boho Chic” describes a style that includes flowy clothing, vintage and ethnic-inspired accessories, and natural-looking hair and makeup. The phrase became popular in 2002 when Australian journalist Laura Demasi used it to describe the eclectic gypsy look that was then in vogue. Although it’s been over 12 years since Demasi’s article, Boho Chic is still a popular style. We share ways in which you can dress up like a boho chic.
* Choose loose, comfortable, and natural topsA simple tee will work if you have other accessories to dress it up with, but try to opt for faded, old, or used tees. Add beautiful colour and tribal patterns to an otherwise drab outfit. Nice, long-sleeved peasant blouses are an especially popular choice among hippies, as they’re stylish without being fussy. You can pump up the look with beautiful coloured shrugs and overcoats
* Utilise your options if you’re a ladyThere’s much more that you can do with bottoms as a female. Take advantage of it! If the weather allows, you have many options. Consider loose, flowery skirts (think gypsy style), Dresses such as tunics or sundresses, Even mini- or micro-skirt (especially if paired with above-the-knee boots).
* Put on some handcrafted jewelryTry long beaded necklaces, natural stones, Seashells, peace charms, large and ethnic-inspired earrings
* Go for granny glasses or shadesPut on those fun sunglasses, think tinted John Lennon specs. You know the kind. Hippies weren’t much concerned with peripheral vision!
* Choose the right kind of sandal or flip-flopTry also leather flip flops. They’re easy to put on and pull off and look great with dresses and skirts.
