Salman Khan’s upcoming film ‘Bharat’ will see the actor in several avatars for the age long story for a journey of a man and a nation together. The makers prior to the release of the film’s trailer has been releasing his looks from different time-lines. From 1960’s to 2000’s.
So far we have seen
Salman Khan in his young avatar as a miner, a navy officer and as a businessman. The film will also see Katrina Kaif in a decade apart dual avatar along side Salman Khan.
But this is not the first time a Bollywood actor will be seen taking up multiple avatars in one film. We have had actors take up the task since 1970’s. While
Amitabh Bachchan was the first actor to play a dual role in 1973’s release, ‘Bandhe Haath’ a year later Sanjeev Kumar played 9 different roles in a film.
Sanjeev Kumar in ‘Naya Din Nai Raat’ was seen playing 9 different roles that represent the nine rasas (love, joy, disgust, fury, compassion, heroism, horror, astonishment and compassion). The film gave him the formidable chance to showcase his skill-set and the performance is still loved today.
Priyanka Chopra in 2009’s release ‘What’s Your Rashee?’ played the roles of 12 zodiac sings which had different personalities, looks and styles. The film also led her to bag the multiple roles in thriller, ‘7 Khoon Maaf’ that released in 2011.

Shahid Kapoor appeared in ‘Teri Meri Kahani’ where the two played star crossed lovers over three different eras. Shahid was seen three avatars based in British Raj 1910, a musician in 1960 and a student in 2012.
Hrithik Roshan took it to the next level when he appeared as a disguised thief in several avatars for the multi-starrer ‘Dhoom 2’. The actor had surprised the audience with is performance in the 2006 release as the master of disguise.
Ranbir Kapoor had been facing a stump in his career right before he took the industry by storm with his 5 avatars in Sanjay Dutt biopic, ‘Sanju’. Ranbir was see as Sanjay Dutt at different stages of his life and career, the actor stunned critics and audience with his transformation, and also bagged Best Actor Awards for the same.
John Abraham in his last release attempted the art of disguise for a spy thriller ‘Romeo Akbar Walter’. The film presented the action hero in three roles only a year apart who take on different personalities for secret missions to insure India’s safety.
Vivek Oberoi will also take on different looks to portray the life journey of current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in the biopic that is yet to release. Vivek last month revealed 9 looks where he will be seen years apart in different roles.
