Actress Mahika Sharma says she will remain ‘Daughter of Assam’ even as her name is missing from NRC draft list

Actress Mahika Sharma, former miss teen northeast, India who belongs from the state of Assam, says she will be “daughter of Assam” even after her name was not registered in the NRC draft.

“NRC has got its own significance. I don’t want to comment if it was political propaganda or something else. All I can see a step taken by the government for a developed Assam. And I’m happy about it. I don’t want to panic for a silly reason that my name isn’t registered in NRC. My forefathers are from the state Haryana. But I was born and grown up in Assam. Hence I’m a daughter of Assam. And my relation with the state cant be justified. However my lawyers are checking and trying to place things. So that I can keep enjoying my citizenship rights,” Mahika Sharma said in her statement.

Mahika says, “I didn’t file the NRC documents. As I couldn’t find legacy data of my grandfather.”

Mahika has managed herself to be the child of controversy. She is to make her Bollywood debut with “The Modern Culture.”
