Karan Johar stated that its time for Bollywood to normalize homosexuality for which he is even ready to make a film based on homosexual love story with two leading actors. The director made this statement at the World Economic Forum 2019 held in Switzerland. Karan said, “Being a leading filmmaker, I can make movies on the subject. I would love to make a homosexual love story and would want to cast two leading actors in the film. I don’t have in mind specific names of the actors I want to cast in the film, but I surely want to make such a film.”
It’s not that Bollywood hadn’t witnessed any films on homosexuality. Films like Fire, Dostana have been based on the same subject. However Karan feels since even the law in India has scrapped section 377 it’s high time that India needs to be more calm and normal while talking and thinking about such topics. Karan himself has admitted of being a homosexual and was amongst the happiest person when last year SC scrapped 377 which used to criminalize homosexuality.
On work front Karan will soon don the director’s hat for Takht which stars Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor.
