This guy needs no introduction. He is recognised all around the globe for his outstanding music composition and superb singing. Not only that, he is such a humble man who is introvert and down to earth above everything else. A Trinity College of Music graduate has time and again set bars and proved his musical genius not nationally but internationally. Who knew that this person hailing from Madras would make such big name all across the globe. The mention is of none other than the one and only and talent ka bhandaar, A.R. Rahman.
Everyone knows a lot about his professional life, his commendable achievements and the blockbuster songs for which he has crooned his voice, but little is known about his personal life and love chronicle. Similar to his nature, God made a match for Rahman, which is the best. Just like any other mother, Rahman’s mom, Kareema Begum was looking out for a life partner for him and the choices lead them to a beautiful and equally humble lady named, Saira Banu.
Just like any other family, when a guy reaches a certain age and is mentally and financially prepared to get married, the family starts looking out. A.R. Rahman’s case was no exception! Rahman was very much clear in his mind the type of girl he wanted. He made the things very much clear to his mom who was the one to search for a right girl for him. According to the same, there were the following three things to be present in the lady:
* Firstly, he wanted an educated wife; something which he himself couldn’t accomplish, courtesy his quest for music and the related learnings.
* Secondly, she had to be beautiful (his own means of being beautiful)
* Topping it all, he wanted his wife to have a lot of humility.
And now, was the challenge for the Jai Ho singer-composer’s mother. The reason was the first two things that Rahman mentioned were standard and could be easily found. The most difficult one was the last one, which is hard to find and was the topmost priority of Rahman. She began her quest for the perfect soulmate of her doting son. One fine day, she witnessed a lovely young damsel at the mosque doing her prayer in depth. And here comes the twist in the tale!
The name of the girl that his mother found turned out to be Meher, younger sister of Rahman’s wife-to-be, Saira. Then, Kareena Begum went to her father with the offer, who happened to be a Chennai-based businessman. It was at this time that Rahman’s mom came to know that Meher had an elder sister, Saira and their father made it clear that first she would get married. But then, after meeting Saira, she thought her to be a perfect match for Rahman since she was fulfilling all his demands.
Saira, who came out to be the perfect match for Rahman scored full on all his counts. Not only that she was beautiful, she was also one of the most humble and down to earth personalities that any guy could have wished for. And the fact that she had shied away from the cameras and spotlight all throughout Rahman’s professional journey till the top.
Their bond and their connect was so strong and stout that everything was going in their tide. Ever since their wedding, Rahman’s wife Saira was very supportive of him. In fact, in an interview with the Times of India, Rahman once revealed that he told her in unequivocal terms that if a song comes up in the middle of a planned dinner, he will have to ditch the plan and go for the recording. To which she was completely fine.
