The news of Hollywood magnate Harvey Weinstein molesting and sexually abusing women has shocked many. Several women since then have come up and shared stories about how they were abused. This has started a social media movement where women who were molested are being encouraged to share their experience. It started with actress Alyssa Milano tweeting a note saying “Suggested by a friend: “If all the women who have been sexually harassed or assaulted wrote “Me too” as a status, we might give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem.” “If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet,” she added.
This opened a floodgate of responses, and several women are using the hashtag to share what they went through. The latest in the line is comedian Mallika Dua. Dua, on her Facebook post shared how she was sexually harassed at the age of seven in a car. “I was 7. My sister was 11. His hands went everywhere inside my skirt and on my sister’s back,” she wrote. Later, she added, her father “dislocated” the person’s jaw with his “bare hands”.
“Me too … in my own car. My mother was driving while he sat at the back with his hand under my skirt the whole time. I was 7. My sister was 11. His hands went everywhere inside my skirt and on my sister’s back. My father who was in a different car dislocated the bastard’s jaw with his bare hands later that night,” she wrote.
