Pakeezah actress Geeta Kapoor passes away, after being abandoned by children

Veteran actress Geeta Kapoor, who’s known for her role in Kamal Amrohi’s Pakeezah, passed away on Saturday morning around 9 am at Mumbai’s SRV Hospital. The actress was abandoned by her children last year. Her son Raja, is a choreographer, left the hospital claiming he would return with cash (deposit for Geeta’s admission at the hospital) but he never showed up. Kapoor also has a daughter, Pooja, is an air hostess.

As per the leading daily’s report, she was brought to hospital in an unconscious state in April and was suffering from low blood pressure.

The news of Geeta Kapoor’s sad demise was confirmed by Ashoke Pandit. He tweeted about the actor’s death, “Standing besides the dead body of Actress #GeetaKapoor 57 who was abandoned by her kids in #SRVHospital a year back breathed her last at a suburban Old age home today morning. We tried our best to keep her healthy but her wait for her Son&daughter made her weaker day by day. #RIP.” The filmmaker thanked producer Taurani and said the actor’s body will be kept at a hospital for two days so that the actor’s family will come and do her last rites. He wrote, “Her body will be kept at Cooper Hospital Vileparle for two days hoping her Children to come and at least do the last rites Otherwise We wl do our best to bid her a dignified goodbye.. Thank U #DrTripathi SRV Hospital @MumbaiPolice #JivanAshaoldHome for being a great help. #RIP.”
