"You Cannot Show My Whole Life in 3 Hours", Sanjay Dutt

Bollywood has seen many biopics being made on sportspersons, Bollywood stars and other public figures, none has garnered the kind of attention the Sanjay Dutt biopic has.

The film, directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, is set for a March 2018 release. Tentatively titled Sanju, the film will open riveting chapters from the life of Sanjay Dutt including drug abuse, death of his first wife and imprisonment for illegal possession of weapons.

In an interview with a leading daily, when Sanjay was asked if he was conmfortable with a biopic being made out of his life, he said, "I have not had an easy life. I have made way too many mistakes, and I want youngsters to really learn from it. So, if you ask me, it was definitely worth telling my story, because I want it to make a difference to the generation today."

Sanjay said that Ranbir Kapoor seemed perfect to play him on screen and that only he can do justice to a film like this. "I feel he slightly has got the same nose as mine," the actor said.

Certain that Ranbir would have done a fantastic job in portraying him on screen, Sanjay said, "Ranbir is one of the finest actors today. He has worked so hard — from the makeup to the performance."

On being quizzed about the content of the film, the actor said, "You can’t write or show my whole life in three hours. So, Raju has taken beautiful parts from it, and combined them into a film."

The Sanjay Dutt biopic has been in the news ever since it began filming. The film also features Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala and Dia Mirza besides Ranbir. To look as authentic as possible, Ranbir has undergone physical transformation for his role in the film.
