* Lisa RayPeople hear the word cancer and they immediately think death. Actress Lisa Ray was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and that's when her empowering journey began. She put up a brave fight against cancer and cleared many myths about cancer. She used her celebrity status to spread awareness and fight the misconceptions related to the fearful disease cancer.
* Ekta KapoorThe Queen of Indian Television Industry, Ekta Kapoor is the managing director of Balaji Telefilms—which has been positioned as the most successful production house for television and film. She changed the face of Indian TV via her shows, making Tellywood as hit as Bollywood.
* Namrata Soni
While sexism in Bollywood may seem like old news, not many know that there was a 60-year-old ban on women make-up artists. For almost six decades, women make-up artists were banned by the film industry union to work in the industry. Though, Supreme Court removed this ban and discrimination in 2014, many make-up artists including Namrata Soni had a tough time in Bollywood. On the other hand, Namrata chose to break-free from the Union's law and has been working in the industry for almost 15 years now. From going against the Union to getting fined, Namrata is now one of the most popular make-up gurus in Bollywood. She ruled the male-dominated world with her own fearless attitude.
* Priyanka ChopraActress, Priyanka Chopra has carved out a niche in the western world for all the countrymen. Through her lead role in American TV series 'Quantico', she broke many stereotypes about the 'Indian image' via her international celebrity status. Priyanka, who is also UNICEF's global ambassador has always been vocal about her thoughts. From her views on racism to slamming Donald Trump's ban on Muslim immigrants, Priyanka is more than just glam!
* Kalki KoechlinThe poster-girl for women's right Kalki Koechlin has been inspiring us in many ways. She has made a mark in the industry by standing up for many causes related to women. She has again and again brought attention to violence and discrimination against women. Her thought provoking poem 'The Printing Machine' went viral for all the right reasons! We admire her for choosing such strong causes and standing up for it.
