World Television Day 2018: Bizarre moments on Indian TV that questioned logic, science and everything else

It all started when the Czarina of Television Industry, Ekta Kapoor introduced concepts like multiple marriages, illogical deaths, resurrections, with more of bizarre legacies taken ahead by shows like Pehredar Piya Ki (where a 19 year old girl is married to a 10 year old lad) and Sasural Simar Ka (where the female protagonist turns into a fly). On the eve of world Television say, we bring you down list of things done and shown on the Indian television that made us question logic and science.

* VFX

The serial that bags the crown in this list is Ekta Kapoor’s Naagin. From the Icchadari Nagin converting into an Icchadari Buffalo and then into an Icchadari Peacock, the VFX used for these scenes is potentially harmful to be watched with a sane mind.

* Logic

A woman turning into a Fly/ Makhee (Sasural Simar Ka) or a Nineteen year old grown up girl marrying a 10 year old kid just to protect him from his enemies (Pehredaar Piya Ki), Television stories have always kept their distance away from logic. Another show which was the epitome of illogical thoughts, was that of Rakhee Ka Insaaf where Rakhee Sawant used to pose as judge and listen to the cases of the victims.

* Science

An episode in the popular show CID showed the actors who play CID officials solving the case of Ghosts. Yes, it happens only in the world of Hindi Television Industry.

* Costumes

Imagine waking up every morning dressed up for a wedding! This is the so called reality of Indian daily soaps. From heavily embellished sarees to dangling jewellery; our protagonists are a Snapchat filter in motion.

* Life span

FBI and CID are still figuring out how did ‘Baa’ from ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ manage to survive so long. Her death in the show was something which Ekta eventually had to show out of shame as by the time the makers showed the death of Baa, she was already 200 years old; courtesy to all the leaps!

* Resurrections

While death is a natural process in a living being’s life cycle; Indian television has used it as a climax and not once but multiple times simply to garner good TRP. Mihir from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi or Om from Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki, all these characters were shown dead then after a pause they were introduced.

* Face change

Aarohi from Ishq Mein Marjawaan was recently give a face change. The character was earlier played by Alisha Panwar and after the plastic surgery the character was played by Nia Sharma. From jaw lines, to the color of the skin to the body weight, nothing is similar between Alisha and Nia, yet the makers bluntly decided to take Nia as the replacement of Alisha. Because who cares!
