Homesickness is the distress caused by being away from homeland, family and friends home. Its cognitive hallmark is preoccupying thoughts of home and attachment objects. Sufferers typically report a combination of depressive and anxious symptoms, withdrawn behavior and difficulty focusing on topics unrelated to home. As an important side note when the elderly are moved, not of their own desire, into a nursing home and out of their own home they are more vulnerable to death due to the stress of homesickness.
# It's a psychosomatic reaction. In other words, strong emotions can make you sick, since there's a relationship between mind and body.
# Missing ur home and ur relatives is just a human emotion, in some person it is found in high % while in other it is low %.Well as u r missing ur home badly, that means ur always thinking about them which inturn make u sad and because of that u probably loose ur apetite, that's why whenever u feel hungry u r not taking a proper diet and result of that stomach aches.
# If you find you are really struggling, do not keep it to yourself. No doubt your friends will be happy to help you work through any problems you may having and some may even be dealing with similar issues. Also, remember that there are counsellors and health professionals located on campus that you can also talk to.
# Due to homesickness, you try to cut yourself from communities, which in turns makes you more sick. Volunteering in your community has so many benefits, for both yourself and people around you. Love music? Become a festival volunteer.
# As a student, this is pretty much a necessity these days if you are going to support yourself, however apart from the pay check, having a casual job can do wonders for your mental health. Keep an eye in shop windows, local newspapers and employment websites for jobs that you think you may enjoy. This can also be a great way of meeting new people.
