Reach Your Dream Weight Goal By Following These Do's and Don'ts

Want to live a healthy life? Wondering how to lose weight during this lockdown? Weight-loss should not be complicated, risky, or uncomfortable. Whether you are working on getting in shape, or you are trying to combat or prevent a health problem, there are safe ways to reach your goals.

Here are a few dos and don’ts or tips for what to do and what not to do to start your journey towards your dream Weight goal.

DONTS

The following don’ts are some points that we tend to do but are harmful and unrealistic in the longer run.

Don't Start Crazy Diet

There are many so called “miracle” diets all over the internet. But before starting those diets just ask yourself whether those diets can be followed throughout your life or not. We must focus on the longer run. It’s not just about losing weight but also about maintaining it. We must focus on a balanced diet because all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals are important.

Dont't Give Up Everything You Love Eating

Excluding your favourite food completely from your diet will make you crave more for it and you will end up eating more than you usually do. If you love ice cream, have it once of a week instead of having it daily. If you avoid eating ice cream completely, you will end up having a bucket full of ice cream instead of that one scoop that you normally have. If you know what you are eating is not right, reduce its intake gradually not all of a sudden.

Dont't Do A Detox

Losing weight fast is the priority of 90% of people. That’s where they begin searching for a detox to lose weight fast. After a period of over unhealthy eating and suddenly trying to wash out those toxins, doesn’t make sense. Instead we must focus on including those detoxifying food in our daily balanced diet.

Don't Set Unrealistic Goals

If your goals are unrealistic, you could be setting yourself up for failure. Weighing 80kgs from weighing 60kgs didn’t happen all of sudden or didn’t happen in a month. So, as you didn’t gain that unwanted weight in a month you cannot lose it in a month. Don’t think about what can happen in a month or a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can do to get closer to where you want to be.

DOS

Now when know what we must not do, let us talk about the basic dos that must be done to get that dream fit body:

Drink More Water

Hydration is key for many factors that play a key role in weight loss, including digestion and muscle function. Water is naturally calorie free. It is a natural appetite suppressant. It increases calorie burning. It helps to remove waste from the body. So, consuming 2-3L of water in a day should be our first resolution to be made to start our weight-loss journey.

Eat Healthy

Removing sugars and starches, or carbs, from your diet can reduce your appetite and make you lose weight without feeling hungry. Assemble each meal out of a protein source, fat source and low carb vegetables. This will generally put you in a carb range of 20-50 grams and significantly lower your hunger levels.

Move More

It is not necessary to start with those planks, push ups, squats, etc. if you can its well and good. But the thing is you must start moving more to burn more calories than you consume. For example, wake up at 6 am instead of 7 am and walk or run for about 15-30 minutes. If possible, walk or ride a bicycle to your work place. Take the staircase instead of the elevator. Take 2-3 minutes break after every 1-2 hours of work and take a walk around the office. After having your last meal at 7pm, go for a small walk or take your pet out for a walk. Include weekly outdoor activities. The more you move the more calories you burn.

Get Good Quality Sleep

Along with eating right and exercising, getting quality sleep is an important part of weight maintenance. Poor sleep dramatically alters the way the body responds to food. For starters, your appetite increases and you are less likely to resist temptations and control portions. On the flip side, establishing healthy sleep habits can help your body maintain a healthy weight. So, get a good 8 hours quality sleep every day.

Focus On Mental Health

Your mental health influences how you think, feel and behave in daily life. It also affects your ability to cope with stress, overcome challenges, build relationships, and recover from life’s setbacks and hardships. To reach your goal your mental health is of utmost importance. So, give time to yourself, take your ‘Me Time’, speak and act kindly to yourself, reduce stress, meditate, explore your interests and priorities, and create an epic self care routine.Having a strong mental health to be consistent in our weight-loss journey is very important.

Being consistent and motivated is important. Adapt good habits that are simple, doable and that can be followed throughout your life. Remember whatever it is, keep it simple and sustainable. Do not be harsh to yourself. Do not merely focus those numbers on the weighing scale. Focus on your overall physical and mental well-being.
