This shrine is a fine specimen of Jaipur sculpture that can attract any art lover. The articulate and intricate carvings on the marble pillars are worth appreciating in this two-story temple. Named after Queen Chandrawati, Chandrashwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to have been constructed by the Maharaja for his Queen and thus we all see a slight romantic angle to its establishment. In the sanctum, apart from the deity of Lord Shiva, an idol of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya can also be witnessed. The portals of the temple are done in brass and have some fine carvings as well; it is believed the Shivling worshipped here has been brought from River Narmada. Pataleshwar Mahadev Temple, JaipurBelieved to be about 400 years old, Pataleshwar Mahadev temple is one of the hidden gems of Jaipur city. Situated in the Rajput Colony of Jhalana Dungri, this Shiva Temple is said to have been excavated in 1977. According to the locals, the temple was buried 20ft under the earth. After continuous efforts of the local, the temple could be excavated and today it stands amidst a well like structure which has 20ft tall walls. There are about 19 stairs to climb down to the temple and close to it a Hanuman temple has also been established which is thronged by a huge devoted crowd during Shivratri.
Rameshwar Temple, JaipurSituated close to Vidyadhar Gardens in the proximity of an old ghat in Jaipur, Rameshwar is a 250 years old temple. The temple is said to be built on the order of Maharaja Ram Singh, who is believed to be a devotee of Lord Shiva. The contemporary of the Rameshwar Temple in Amer Fort, this shrine also have resemblance with the former in its sculpture art. Like the sanctum of the Rameshwar shrine of Amer Fort, this temple also has a presiding deity of Goddess Parvati and an idol of Kartikeya in the premises. Making this holy temple more serene and divine is the unspoilt backdrop of Aravallis. The view from the top of the temple of the Vidhyadhar Gardens is also mesmeric. During the monsoon, several seasonal waterfalls cascading from the mountains around the Rameshwar temple can be witnessed.
Ambikeshwar Mahadev Temple, JaipurThis temple situated in the Amer Fort of Jaipur holds great religious importance. It is believed that the Shivling here is a natural one which was founded buried 22ft under the earth. The legend has it the King Kankil Dev had a cow that gave milk only at specific place. The King was surprised and decided to get the place excavated. During the excavation a Shivling was found, so the King ordered to construct a temple at this place. Even today, the Shivling lies at the same place, devotees have to peek inside to see the Shivlinga which is now encased by a circular hole. It is believed during the monsoon season, the Shivlinga submerges in 10ft water that miraculously appears.
