Every year ample number to ladies suffer accidents from kitchen fire. The house makers are not much aware about how to deal with the fire in kitchen. The fire in kitchen occurs due to many reasons like burner leak, cooking mishap and etc. The fire in kitchen need to behandeled with patience and mind games. You can quickly approach fire extinguisher to deal with it and in case you don`t have, try out these tricks-
1. When Pan Catcher Fire
Whenever there is fire in pan while cooking, Never pour water on the grease fire. You can use over mitt, then place the lid over the pan to smother the fire. Try to slide the lid over the flames as opposed to dropping the lid down from above.
2. When Oven Catches Fires
Immediately close the oven door and turn it off. If the fire doesn’t go out right away, call the fire department. Have the oven inspected and repaired before you use it again.
3. When Microwave Catches Fires
Close the microwave door and keep it closed. Turn the microwave off and unplug it if you can do so safely. Leave it closed and don`t use it again until you can have the appliance checked out by a technician.
4. When Electrical Panel Catches Fires
Prevent electrical fires by not overloading your electrical outlets with appliances. If a fire starts, use a fire extinguisher; never douse it with water. Always call the fire department for an electrical fire, even if you have already put it out with the fire extinguisher.
5. General Fire Control Tip
Baking soda is also an important ingredient in any kitchen, and not just for baking cookies. If a fire breaks out on an electric stovetop or if you don’t have anything available to smother a grease fire, grab a box of baking soda and pour it generously on the flames. Baking soda will help to extinguish a small fire, but you may need several boxes of it. Never use flour to put out a fire, as it can make the flames worse.
6. When Cylinder Catches Fire
LPG contains gas, which, under pressure is highly flammable. In case you detect any gas leak you should-
- When a gas leak is suspected, extinguish all flames, incense sticks, etc.
- Close the LPG regulator and put the safety cap on the cylinder.
- Don’t light matches (or a lighter).
- Do not switch on/off any electrical switches or appliances.
- Open the doors and windows to ventilate your house.
- Isolate main electrical supply from the outside.
- Call your gas supplier or the fire department.
And when the cylinder catches fire, you should-
- Evacuate the area to a minimum of 200 meters from the cylinder.
- Advice Neighbors about the fire accident.
- Call Emergency number for fire escape.
- Cylinders which are not directly involved in the fire and have not become heated should be moved as quickly as possible to a safe place.
