Ingredients of Butter Broccoli

1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or chives)

How to make Butter Broccoli

- Cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Rinse under cold water and drain well.

- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.

- Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and just tender.

- Drain the broccoli and transfer immediately to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain again and set aside.

- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

- Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant and lightly golden.

- Add the blanched broccoli to the skillet and toss to coat in the butter and garlic mixture.

- Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is heated through and coated evenly.

- Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Add lemon juice and zest for a burst of freshness.

- If desired, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the broccoli and toss to combine. Let it melt slightly before removing from heat.

- Transfer the butter broccoli to a serving dish. Now garnish with fresh herbs, if using. Serve warm as a side dish.
