Besan/ chickpea flour/ gram flour cheela is savorylentil pancakes. This makes a yummy nutritious breakfast or snack. It is really easy to make and hardly takes any time to cook. Sometimes when we are looking for lightyummy lunch or dinner options then also this comes handy.
IngredientsFor Besan Cheela2 cup Besan/ gram flour/ chickpea flour
1/4 cup grated lauki/bottle gourd ( optional)
salt to taste
1/2Tsp red chili powder
1/8 tspajwain/ carom seeds
1 green chili chopped
1/2 tsp grated ginger
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/8 tspasafoetida/ heeng
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves/ Dhaniya
1/8 tspfennel seeds/ saunf
the water around 1 1/4 cup
oil for cooking
For cheese stuffing2-3 cubes cheese
2 tbsp tomato ketchup
1 onion chopped
1 tomato deseeded and chopped
1/2 capsicum chopped
pizza seasoning
Method- Keep everything ready beforeyou start cooking as these cook real fast. chop all the vegetables and grate the cheese.
- Mix all the ingredients mentioned under for besan cheela and make a batter with the help of water.
- The batter should not be very thick. it should have a pouring consistency.
- Heat the tawa and grease it lightly with oil first. Take a big ladle full of Batter and spread it evenly in a round shape.
- Drizzle a little oil on the sides of cheela and let it cook on this side.
- Cook till its light brown incolorand crispy. When done flip it and cook the other side.
- Drizzle a little more oil along the edges and press lightly with a spatula while cooking.
- While this side is cooking spread a thin layer of tomato ketchup on the cooked side.
- Add chopped veggies, cheese and seasoning on half the cheela.
- When bottom side is cooked fold it in half and take it off the flame. Cook rest of the cheelas in the same way.
