Makar Sankranti - Recipe of Mooger Puli

Mooger Puli is a popular Bengali sweet made of sweet potatoes and dal. Learn how to make/prepare Mooger Puli by following this easy recipe.

Ingredients:

1 cup Split Green Gram Skinless (Dhuli moong dal)
2 tbsp Rice Flour (Chaawala kaa aattaa)
3/4 cup Jaggery (Gur)
3 medium Sweet Potatoes
6 tbsp Ghee
1/2 tsp Green Cardamom Powder

Method

* In a wok (kadhai), dry roast the moong dal till light brown. Now add two cups of hot water to it and cook till done.

* In a pan, heat 3 tablespoon of ghee and add the boiled dal and sauté for a while.

* Now add the rice flour and jaggery to it and mix well. Cook till the jaggery melts.

* Add the mashed sweet potatoes to it and cook till dry.

* Remove from heat and transfer the contents in a big bowl and allow it to cool.

* Add green cardamom powder to it and mix well.

* Now roll out small cylindrical shaped pulis from the mixture.

* In a wok (kadhai), heat ghee and fry the pulis till golden brown.

* Drain and absorb the excess oil.

* Serve hot.
