Ingredients
2 cup wheat flour
2 tablespoon ghee
1/2 cup soaked,washed & dried green moong dal
1 tablespoon ghee
1 teaspoon powdered red chilli
1/2 teaspoon coriander powder
3 pinches salt
1/2 inch grated ginger
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon semolina
2 pinches salt
1 tablespoon washed & dried chana dal
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon coriander leaves
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
3 cup water
How to make Daal Baati
Step 1
For making baati, mix the wheat flour with rawa, salt and ghee. Knead very stiff dough with warm water.
Step 2
Shape the dough in the size of a ping pong ball. Heat a gas tandoor and roast on low heat till the outer cover is brown and crusty.
Step 3
Then break open from the top and pour some fresh ghee on the halves.
Step 4
Wash both dal together add 1 cup water and a pinch of turmeric.
Step 5
Pressure cook the dals till 4 whistles. Cool the cooker and remove the dal.
Step 6
Mix all the spice powders in 1/2 cup water to make thin paste.
Step 7
Put ghee in a pan over medium flame, add the cumin and coriander seeds. Once they splutter, add ginger.
Step 8
Add the paste of spice powders and fry for a minute, add the cooked dal.
Step 9
Then add the remaining water and stir well. Bring it to a boil.
Step 10
Add lemon juice in it, check and add salt if required. Garnish with chopped coriander.
Step 11
Serve hot with freshly prepared baati.
