Hyderabadi Double Ka Meetha is a delicious dessert recipe which is popularly made on the day of Eid. It is made using bread slices and reduced milk and is loaded with dry fruits for a delicious crunch.
Ingredients10 Bread Slices
2 cups Ghee
For sugar syrup1 cup Sugar
1 cup Water
1 tsp Cardamom Powder
For the Milk Mixture1 litre Full Fat Milk
1 pinch Saffron
1/4 cup Sugar
For garnishing10-12 Almonds Crushed
10-12 Cashew Nuts Crushed
Instructions
* Heat ghee in a frying pan.
* Cut the bread into halves diagonally.
* Deep fry the slices till golden brown.
* Drain on a tissue lined plate and keep aside.
* Deep fry the almonds and cashew nuts in the same ghee till slightly browned.
* Drain and keep aside.
For sugar syrup* Add sugar and water in a pan and cook on medium heat till the syrup is slightly thickened.
* Remove from heat and keep aside.
For the milk mixture.* Heat milk in a heavy bottom pan.
* When the milk comes to a boil, lower the heat and add saffron in it.
* Cook on low heat till the milk is reduced to half.
* Add sugar and cook for another minute.
* Remove from heat and keep aside.
Assembling double ka meetha
* Pre heat the oven to 180 degree C.
* Grease a rectangular tray with ghee.
* Arrange the bread slices on the tray.
* Pour the sugar syrup on top of the bread slices.
* Pour the milk mixture over the bread slices.
* Sprinkle the fried dry fruits on top.
* Bake for 20-25 minutes.
* Remove from oven and cool slightly.
* Serve warm.
