Several studies show that adding more produce to your diet can improve your well-being, yet most of us don't get enough. Our fruit and veggie-packed fruit juice and vegetable juice recipes are a delicious way to drink about a quarter of your daily recommended produce intake per glass.
# Pomegranate Juice
Ingredients3 cups pomegranate seeds
1 cup water ( or seltzer water)
1-2 pinches black salt (kala namak) or regular salt
Method- Add 3 cups of pomegranate ( about 2 large pomegranates) to a blender.
- Pulse it few times to break them apart and release the juice. Do not make puree, we just need to pulse until the outer layer of the seeds are broken.
- Use a metal strainer to strain the seeds out. You can also use a muslin cloth to strain the juice.
- While you can enjoy the pomegranate juice as is, I feel it is slightly thick to my liking.
- So we add a cup of water ( or seltzer water) and a pinch of black salt (kala namak) and enjoy this refreshing sweet and tart juice.
# Ash Gourd Spinach Juice
Ingredients
2 heaping cups ash gourd pieces
1 cup pineapple, chopped
1 cup tightly packed Spinach
1 teaspoon chopped ginger
1 teaspoon lime juice
honey to taste optional
¼ cup water skip if making it in a juicer
Method- Add all the ingredients one at a time and juice it. Discard the pulp.
If using a blender
- Add pineapple, ash gourd, spinach, ginger and some water to a blender.
- Blend the mixture until it is pureed completely.
- Use a muslin cloth or a strainer and strain the juice. Add a squeeze of lime juice.
- If you like it sweeter, add some honey to it.
- For the maximum health benefits, consume the ash gourd juice with in 30 minutes of making it.
# Jaggery JuiceIngredients¼ cup powdered jaggery
10 mint leaves
¼ teaspoon black salt ( kala namak)
2 cups cold water
½ lime
Method- If using block of jaggery, roughly powder it and soak it in little water till it completely melts. Strain to remove any impurities.
- I used powdered organic jaggery, so used it directly to make the juice.
- Add the powdered jaggery, cold water, mint, lime and black salt to a blender.
- Blend until jaggery is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust lime.
