In case you couldn't tell by that golden, spice-covered crouton glistening with crispiness up there, these parmesan croutons are life. They are absolutely packed full of flavor thanks to a couple of little tricks soon to be up your sleeve.
Ingredients1 loaf cheese bread, see notes
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon EACH: sea salt and pepper
½ cup olive oil
Method* Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Cut the bread into 1 ½ inch cubes and put them into a large bowl.
* Grate the parmesan cheese into a medium-sized bowl. Uses your fingers to crumble the cheese into a powder.
* Add the nutritional yeast, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper and mix well.
* Pour the olive oil over the bread cubes and sprinkle the spices over top. Use your hands to mix the bread cubes and ensure that each cube is well coated in oil and spices.
* Transfer the bread cubes to a baking sheet. If there is any of the cheese and spices in the bottom of the bowl, take a few pieces of bread and swipe them through it so make sure all of the flavor is used.
* Bake the croutons for 25-30 minutes, mixing them halfway through. They are done when they're golden brown and mostly crispy. They will continue to crisp as they cool.
