Recipe- Easy and Crusty Irish Soda Bread


A super easy and crusty and rustic Irish soda bread is just perfect to grab on for breakfast with some butter or jam.Irish soda bread the easiest and simplest bread ever which needs only under five ingredients, how cool is that, right? Its been almost four years in Ireland and I have never ever tried the simplest bread recipe of the country.

Ingredients

450 gm plain flour+more for dusting
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
400 ml buttermilk

Method

* Preheat oven to 220° and dust a baking sheet with some flour.

* In a mixing bowl sift flour, salt, sugar and baking soda. Make a well in the center of the flour and add about all of the buttermilk leaving about 50 ml.

* Mix the flour and buttermilk together with your hands until it brings together. No need of kneading the dough just make sure it is soft but not sticky.

* Transfer the dough onto a floured work surface and bring together into a round about 4-5 cm thick. Make the deep cross in the dough.

* Place the dough on to the prepared baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes.

* Turn down the oven temperature to 200° C and bake for 30 to 35 minutes more.

* To check the doneness tap the bottom of the loaf and it should sound hollow and color will be golden on the crust.

* Cool completely before slicing. Serve and enjoy.
