Ingredients3 cups cornflakes
1/2 cup roasted peanuts
1/4 cup roasted chana dal (split roasted gram)
1/4 cup raisins
1/4 cup curry leaves
1/4 cup finely chopped coconut (optional)
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Method
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add curry leaves and fry for a few seconds.
- Add roasted peanuts, roasted chana dal, and raisins and fry for a minute or until the peanuts are lightly browned.
- Add the coconut (if using) and fry for another 30 seconds.
- Add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt and mix well.
- Add the cornflakes to the pan and mix gently until the cornflakes are coated with the spice mixture.
- Turn off the heat and let the chiwda cool down completely.
