Healthy, delicious and chatpata (tangy) burger prepared with a homemade pan-fried tikki. The bright pink-coloured tikkis are gorgeous to look at; you will love preparing it and eating it!
Ingredients
2 large potatoes, boiled & peeled
1 small beetroot, finely grated
1/2 cup boiled peas
1 teaspoon freshly ground ginger
1 teaspoon finely chopped green chillies or to taste
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander leaves
2 slices of whole-wheat bread
1 teaspoon chat masala
Oil for pan-frying
Salt to taste
4 burger buns
1 cucumber, thinly sliced
1 tomato, thinly sliced
Method* Mash the potatoes using a potato masher.
* Dip the bread slices in a bowl filled with water and squeeze them between your hands.
* Combine all the ingredients for the burger patty (except oil) in a large bowl and mix well.
* Grease your palms with oil. Take a portion of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Flatten it gently between your palms and give it the shape of a burger patty. Repeat the same process to make patties from the remaining mixture.
* Heat a non-stick flat-pan and grease it with oil. Gently place the patties on the pan about 1 inch apart from each other so that they can be flipped easily when done from one side.
* Cook the patties on medium heat and flip them over carefully using a spatula when golden brown and crisp from one side. Add little oil and cook till the other side becomes crisp and golden brown as well.
* Heat a non-stick flat-pan and grease it with oil. Gently place the patties on the pan about 1 inch apart from each other so that they can be flipped easily when done from one side.
* Cook the patties on medium heat and flip them over carefully using a spatula when golden brown and crisp from one side. Add little oil and cook till the other side becomes crisp and golden brown as well.
* To assemble the burger, place a cheese slice on one side of the burger bun. Then place the burger patty and spread the tomato-chilli sauce on it. Top it up with onion, cucumber & tomato slices.
* Cover it with the other part of burger bun.
* Serve hot with cafe mocha.
