Recipe- Indian Bread Roll For Monsoon Evenings

A super easy method to make your favorite ‘Indian Bread Roll Recipe’ (Indian potato croquettes) using potatoes, bread, and onion. Quintessential Indian snack that can be made 3 different ways – Fried, Air Fryer, and Baked. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, snacks or midnight pangs. They are an extremely popular Indian snack made using a mix of potato, bread and a few other ingredients. The dough is then rolled into oblong/round or ball-shaped and fried till golden brown and crispy.

Also, known as ‘Indian Potato Croquettes’. In India, you would hardly come across anyone who would have not grown up eating them, especially in their school cafeteria/canteen.

Ingredients

4 Large Boiled Potatoes – shredded
6 Bread Slices
1 Large Onion – thinly chopped
1 Large Bell Pepper (capsicum) – thinly chopped
4 Tbsp Fresh Cilantro (coriander/dhania) – thinly chopped
1 Tsp Thinly Grated Fresh Ginger
1/2 Cup Water – for softening bread
1 Cup Oil – for frying
Oil Spray – for baking or air frying
1 Tsp Salt – as per taste
1 Tsp Red Chili Powder – optional
1 Tbsp Coriander Powder
1 Tbsp Dry Mango Powder(amchur) – optional

Method
* Dip each bread slices in water and squeeze to remove excess water. Keep the soaked bread aside.

* In a large bowl, add shredded boiled potatoes, chopped onion, bell pepper, cilantro, ginger, and soaked bread.

* Add all the spices and sprinkle 3-4 tsp water (from same 1/2 cup).

* Mix and form a smooth dough.

* Wet your hand and place 1.5 Tbsp bread roll dough in your palm.

* Make the desired bread roll shape (round, oblong, balls).

* Similarly, make all the bread roll and keep in a plate.

* Heat 1 cup oil in a pot or shallow pan.

* Add 3-4 raw bread rolls and fry on medium flames until golden brown on both sides (takes about 2 minutes for 3 rolls).

* Remove the fried rolls to a kitchen towel to soak excess oil.

* Similarly, fry all the bread roll.
