Recipe- Quick and Easy To Make Raw Banana Poriyal


This plantain curry (raw banana poriyal or aratikaya kura) is a quick and easy recipe with grated raw bananas or plantains that goes well with rice or roti.Raw banana or plantain or Aratikaya ( in Telugu) is a highly nutritious vegetable that you should include in your diet at least once a week or once in 10 days.This aratikaya kura (as called in Telugu) is a quick and easy recipe and makes a good side dish for rice or roti.

Ingredients

2 raw bananas (large ones)
1 medium-sized onion
¼ cup dry coconut powder
1 green chili
1 red chili
1.5 tbsp oil
¼ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp cumin seeds
½ tsp coriander powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
Corainder leaves for garnishing

Method

* Peel the raw banana or aratikaya with a peeler and grate it. You need not remove the complete skin of the banana as the peel is more nutritious. Just peel the green layer on the top.

* Slice the onions lengthwise and keep them ready.

* Heat a pan and add oil to it.

* Once it is hot, add cumin seeds, mustard seeds, red chili, and green chili.

* Once the seeds start spluttering, add sliced onion. Let them fry for a couple of minutes.

* To this onion mixture, add grated raw banana, salt, coriander seeds powder, and turmeric powder.

* Mix it well so that the grated raw banana is coated well with spices and onion mixture.

* On a medium flame let it cook for 5 minutes. Scrape the bottom of the pan if it sticks. After 5 minutes, it will be like this.

* Cook it for 4 to 5 more minutes and once the raw banana is cooked well, add grated coconut powder.

* Mix it well and dish out the plantain curry. Serve it with hot rice or phulka or any Indian flatbread.
