Recipe- Restaurant Style Dahi Vada at Home

You must have tried dahi vada at roadside snacks store or at a restaurant. It is so delicious and spicy food. Vada is immersed in curd with a lot of masala (spices). In North India, it is served with red (tamarind) and green (pudina) chutney. It is basically a south Indian dish and people have it as snacks as well as breakfast too. If you want to try this at home then this dahi vada recipe will help you make it very easily.

Ingredients

Urad dal – 100 gm
Dahi / curd – 200 gm
Roasted coriander powder – 1.5 tsp
Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
Red mirch /chili powder – 1.5 tsp
Salt – according to taste
Sugar powder – 2 tsp
Water – 1 cup

Method

- Let urad dal soak in water for 2-4 (two to four) hours (overnight) and blend in mixer grinder to make paste and add 2 Tsp of curd and leave that paste for over night

- Next day add baking powder and salt in paste

- Heat a pan and add sunflower oil

- Make a small ball of dal paste and fry in oil

- Immerse fried dal-balls in water for 10 minutes & let all dal vada to cool and press them both sides with your hands and make flat shaped vada

- Now in a bowl add curd, salt, a few spices (coriander powder, cumin powder & red chili powder) and water (1 tbsp). Now mix those spices with curd

- Now take 3-4 vada on a plate and spread curd (with masala) over that

- Now mix all residual spices and spread over that plate according to taste.
