A delicious Lasooni Moong Dal recipe, Lasooni Moong Dal is a simple recipe which can be used for every day cooking. A blend of yellow moong dal flavored with tomato, onions, ginger and garlic. It is a simply delicious and very nutritious too, it is a best served with steamed rice!
Ingredients1 Cup Yellow Split Moong Dal
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 Chopped Medium Sized Tomato
2 Cloves
1 Black Cardamom
1 Chopped Medium Sized Onion
5-6 Finely Minced Garlic Cloves
1 tsp Ginger Paste
4-5 Curry Leaves
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
2-3 Dry Mango Slices
1 tsp Cumin Seeds
2-3 Whole Dry Red Chili
1 tbsp Oil
Pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
Salt
Chopped Coriander Leaves
Method
* Presser cook the moong dal with chopped tomato, turmeric powder, cloves and cardamom till the dal is cooked, and then keep aside.
* Chop onion, garlic and keep aside.
* Heat the oil in a pan/vessel, add cumin seeds, curry leaves, minced garlic, whole dry red chili, pinch of hing and sauté till golden brown.
* Now add chopped onion, ginger paste, red chili powder and sauté again till onion golden brown.
* Add cooked dal, add required water, salt, dry mango slices and mix well, bring it to boil.
* Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
* Lasooni Moong Dal is ready serve with steamed rice, roti or paratha.
