Apple Kheer is a delicious Indian delicacy that mixes the sweetness of apples with the richness of milk and the perfume of fragrant spices. This creamy and savoury dessert is not only delicious, but it also has various health advantages. In this post, we will look at the recipe for Apple Kheer, as well as the cooking time and the various health benefits it offers.
Ingredients 2 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and grated
1 liter full-fat milk
1/2 cup condensed milk
1/4 cup rice, washed and soaked for 30 minutes
1/4 cup sugar (adjust according to taste)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
A handful of chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, and pistachios)
Saffron strands (optional)
Rose petals for garnish (optional)
Cooking Time: Approximately 45 minutes
Method- In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer until it reduces to about three-fourths of its original quantity, stirring occasionally. This process may take around 25-30 minutes.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the pan with the reduced milk. Cook the rice in the milk on low heat until it becomes soft and tender, stirring frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
- Once the rice is cooked, add the grated apples and condensed milk to the pan. Mix well and continue to cook for another 5 minutes.
- Stir in the sugar, cardamom powder, and chopped nuts. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sugar dissolves completely and the flavors meld together.
- Remove the pan from heat and allow the kheer to cool down to room temperature. You can serve it warm or chilled, according to your preference.
- Garnish the Apple Kheer with saffron strands and rose petals for an elegant touch.
