Malai Pyaaz an authentic Rajasthani recipe is cooked with onion and lots of malai.
Ingredients2 cup Chopped Onion
4 tspTomato puree
1/2 cup Fresh milk cream (malai)
1 tsp green chilieschopped
a pinch Asafoetida
1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Cumin seeds (jeera)
1 tsp Corianderpowder
1 Black cardamom
1/2 tsp Kasuri Methi powder
Salt to taste
2 tsp Oil
Method* Heat oil in a pan, Add cumin seeds in hot oil let them crackle. Add asafetida in it saute for 2-3 seconds.
* Add the Crushed Black cardamom, and add turmeric powder, chopped green chilies, coriander powder in pan. Cook for one more minute and add chopped onions.
* Cook till onion turn light brown. Add tomato puree in cooked onions. Let it simmer for two minutes.
*Add fresh milk cream or malai in cooked onions, mix well to combine all ingredients. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes on low heat. Garnish with Kasuri methi powder and serve hot with rice, Roti or Paratha.
