9 Ways To Get a Life Again and Start Living

As we grow older, it gets harder and harder to have your own life. You’re basically a slave of work and chores. Your little free time usually goes to your partner if you have one, the kids if you have them, and maybe an episode or two on Netflix before bed. Luckily, you can learn how to get a life again even if you’re stuck in the same mundane cycle.

You don’t have to accept your life as is. There are changes you can make to figure out what you love and start doing more of those fun things. It’s hard to go through life doing the same thing over and over again. Adding some variety will help breathe happiness and excitement into your life again.

# Think about what you used to love doing

Think back to your teenage years and what you did for fun before getting a fulltime job. What was the thing that brought you the most joy?

Chances are, it just popped into your mind. Now go do that thing again! It’s really important for you to continue doing the things that bring you happiness. That’ll help you get a life again.

# Cut back on working

If you can, give up some of your hours. There’s no need to spend your entire day at your job. Yes, your career is important but if you feel like you’re missing something in your life, you should think about making more time to have a life.

Even leaving a half hour early when you usually stay two hours late will help you immensely. Take that time and put it toward bettering your personal life. Your career is solid; your happiness is not. Fix it.

# Schedule chore time

Don’t just leave chores for whenever you do them. If you do this, you’ll end up trying to do stuff every single day and you won’t have time for anything you really want to do. So schedule days when you’ll tackle chores.

Make a list and just pick a day or two a week to do those things. The other days you should have free to do what you want. This way, you’ll actually end up having a life.

By this, I mean you should be going out and having fun at least twice a month. Meet up with your friends and have a few drinks and just catch up.

This will add some variety to a boring life and it helps keep you sane. When you aren’t allowed to blow off steam regularly, the stress of life can get to be too much. You could end up very unhappy. So make an effort to have more fun.
