In a shocking incident, on Thursday a Dalit voter chopped off his finger after inadvertently pressing the button of the BJP election symbol instead of the BSP at a booth in Shikarpur area of Bulandshahr constituency during the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
The 25-year-old Dalit voter was identified as Pawan Kumar, a supporter of Mayawati’s BSP. Pawan Kumar hails from Abdullapur Hulaspur village, Shantipur police station area in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place after he had gone to vote in the Shikarpur area of the constituency. He reportedly wanted to vote for BSP’s Yogesh Verma but mistakenly voted for the BJP candidate.
According to Hindustan Times, after he realised his mistake, he chopped off his finger. The 25-year-old had later released a video, which has now gone viral on social media. In the video, Kumar said that he chopped off his finger to repent his mistake. Inputs from Freepressjournal
