FIFA 2018- Double Celebration For Goals With VAR

Iago Aspas' equaliser was celebrated by Spaniards twice on Monday evening, with the nation jumping for joy when his finish first hit the back of the net and then once again when the referee confirmed it would stand to earn a 2-2 draw with Morocco.

In between, the goal had been ruled out for an alleged offside, before VAR was consulted and before VAR re-awarded the goal.

The use of this technology means that goals are no longer celebrated in the same way, as players and fans aren't fully sure that it'll count on the scoreboard until the subsequent kick-off is taken.

It's like winning the lottery, as you experience initial joy, but only unleash the euphoria after triple-checking that the numbers on your ticket are indeed the winning ones.
