Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav organisers are gearing up for Ganesh Chaturthi, which falls on September 13, 2018, and is celebrated with much fanfare in the city and across the state, each year. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials monitoring the permission process for Ganpati mandals, have claimed applications for 78% of pandals had been cleared by August 31 and only 10 per cent of applications have been rejected for various reasons. The organisers have to obtain permissions from various authorities, which includes No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the fire, traffic and police departments for final approval.
