Police form teams to trace father of 3 minor girls who starved to death

Police have formed teams to trace the father of the three girls, who allegedly died of starvation in east Delhi’s Mandawali, a senior officer said.

On July 24, the three girls aged two, four and eight were taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital by their mother and a family friend where they were declared brought dead. The initial post-mortem report suggested that they died due to starvation. Police had also got a re-examination done of the bodies from a medical board of the GTB Hospital and are awaiting its report.

The girls’ father, a casual labourer, had left on the morning of July 24 for finding work and has not returned. Police are on the lookout for him and he will be questioned in connection with the matter, he said.
