Google Maps is introducing a new feature designed to simplify the search for parking spots for drivers throughout North America. This enhancement follows Google’s partnership with SpotHero, a prominent parking reservation platform, to seamlessly integrate SpotHero’s services into both Google Maps and Google Search.
With this update, users can easily search for nearby parking options and reserve a spot in advance. When looking up a location on Google Maps or Google Search, drivers will notice a Book Online button alongside parking listings. This button directs them to SpotHero’s website, where they can securely finalize their parking reservations. The feature also allows users to filter parking spaces by date, time, and additional amenities such as electric vehicle (EV) charging, wheelchair accessibility, and valet services.
The integration of SpotHero with Google Maps first debuted in April 2024 and has since expanded to include more locations and event venues across the United States and Canada. Since its inception in 2011, SpotHero has partnered with over 8,000 parking facilities in 300 cities and has established connections with major sports and entertainment venues, including Madison Square Garden and the Chicago Cubs.
Mark Lawrence, CEO and Founder of SpotHero, highlighted the advantages of this collaboration: “By leveraging Google Maps’ vast user base of millions of daily users, we can effectively assist more drivers in North American cities seeking digital parking solutions with accessible, affordable options tailored to their needs.”
This new feature aims to alleviate parking stress by enabling users to secure spots ahead of time, eliminating the last-minute search for parking. Moreover, parking operators partnering with SpotHero can optimize their space management through data-driven insights from SpotHero’s machine learning-powered platform, SpotHero IQ.
As a leader in digital parking solutions, SpotHero continues to expand its influence, boasting millions of downloads that make it the most popular parking reservation app in North America. The collaboration with Google promises to offer even more drivers easy access to parking reservations, enhancing the experience of city driving. The new Google Maps feature is anticipated to be fully rolled out later this year, expanding to additional locations.
