Wake up and smell the hot brew, then sip on it and use the leftover coffee grounds in your beauty routine. Yes, you heard that right. Instead of just tossing away that brown gunk, you can utilize it for various homemade beauty treatments. It's convenient, cheap and totally natural. So go ahead and try these 5 ways to make the most of your cup a Joe.
Use it as an exfoliating scrub
Coffee grounds have the perfect consistency for a gentle exfoliating scrub that can benefit dry and dull skin. Mix it up with some coconut oil, a few drops of vanilla extract and use this scrub on your body, especially your legs and hands for smoother and softer skin.
Use it to soothe puffy eyes
Coffee does not just energize your brain but can do the same for your skin too. When you make your morning coffee, collect the leftover grounds and allow them to cool. Then apply it directly under your eyes and leave it for 20 minutes, to get rid of those unpleasant bags.
Use it as a foot scrub
Get smooth, soft and pedicure-ready feet with a coffee foot scrub. Make a mix of coffee grounds and mashed banana, use it to exfoliate your feet and get rid of calluses and dead skin.
Use it to maintain your dark hair color
If you've dyed your hair dark brown or black, a coffee rinse will help strengthen that color for a longer time. Make two cups of really strong coffee using fresh or leftover grounds and allow it to cool down. Then pour it over your hair, wrap it up in a shower cap, leave it on for an hour or more and then rinse it off with cool water.
Use it to get rid of cooking smells from your fingers
If you've been cutting onions or garlic, you know you're going to be left with an unpleasant stench even though you scrub your hands with soap. This is where the coffee grounds come in play. Simply rub some of those grounds on your finger and nails and scrub it gently. Coffee has deodorizing properties that will neutralize the smell.
