What do you do with squeezed out lemons, fruit peels, used tea bags, etc.? Do you show them a direct way to the dustbin? How about putting all these “wastes” to some beauty purposes? Yes, gone are the days when these kitchen wastes were considered useless. Now there are countless ways to use them. You can put these “throwaways” to good use with some DIY easy beauty hacks.
# Lemon
After squeezing the juice, don’t think of throwing the lemon into the bin. Rather use it to get rid of dark knees and elbows. This will remove dead skin cells and lighten the skin.
Take that squeezed out a lemon and sprinkle a tablespoon baking soda in it. Then, rub it on your dark elbows and knees for a minute. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Moisturize well your skin with olive oil, coconut oil or any moisturizer of your choice. This helps in reducing the tan. Rubbing a lemon on your armpits, will not only lighten your dark underarms but also helps in getting rid of body odor.
# Scraped Egg White
Egg works as one of the best DIY easy beauty hacks. Once you’ve used your egg and poured out the egg white and yolk, scrape out the shell for the sticky part of the egg white.
For that, you just have to grab a small amount of membrane with your fingertips and gently peel it away. Apply this on your face and rinse it off. This would make your skin look smoother and reduce all fine lines and wrinkles.
# Fruit Peels
Papaya Peel contains enzymes that remove dead cells from the surface of the skin. It lightens skin tone, moisturizes dry skin and prevents sagging skin. Rub it on your skin and neck area. Leave it for 15 minutes and then rinse it off with cold water. Your glowing skin is ready to flaunt!
Dried Orange Peels ground into a powder can be used to create an anti-tan face pack when mixed with turmeric and honey.
Banana Peel helps to soften and hydrate dry skin. Sprinkle sugar crystals on the flesh side of the small piece of banana peel and rub it on the affected area for a few minutes until the inside of the peel turns brown. This works as a soft, exfoliating loofa for your skin (Don’t use it if you have oily skin). As it dries, your skin will absorb the vitamins and nutrients in the peel. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.
# Tea Bags
You can reuse your tea bags as DIY easy beauty hacks. Next time doesn’t throw them after you have had your cup of tea. Store them for beauty purposes. Be it green tea bags or black tea bags, both can help soothe puffy and irritated eyes as they contain anti-irritant properties.
Put the tea bags over your eyelids and leave them in place for 10 to 15 minutes. This will also cure your dark circles. Make sure to freeze them before use for better results.
# Wheat Husk
What happens to wheat husk after you sieve it? It becomes a good facial scrub and the best part is, it is free of chemicals.
Take 1 tsp of wheat husk. Add 1 tsp of milk, 1tsp of honey and a pinch of turmeric powder to it to make a paste. Take the paste in your palm and rub on your face in circular motions for 5 – 10 minutes. This paste is not very sticky and does not stay on the face. So take it, again and again, keep rubbing.
This removes stubborn blackheads from your face and makes your skin looks very soft and glowing immediately.
