5 Tips To Get Baby Soft Kissable Lips This Winter Season

Cold and dry weather calls in for major skin and hair issues. The dry air sucks out water from your skin cells, making it extremely and itchy. And the same happen to your lips. They become chapped and flake; in the worse cases – some cracks also bleed. Do not fret, woman. Here are 5 absolutely simple and basic lip-care techniques that you can follow to achieve baby soft lips in this cold and dry winter season.

# Exfoliate

Of course, it is not a rocket science as to why to exfoliate, but the technique is in HOW to exfoliate. During winters, if your lips are even slightly chapped, make sure you exfoliate them gently. Try to use organic and/or homemade lip exfoliators – you can make one by mixing coarsely ground coffee powder, sugar, honey and little bit of coconut oil/ghee. You can even make and store this lip-scrub for weeks!

# Lip Balm

Always carry a lip balm wherever you go. Never leave your lips unprotected. The skin of your lips is very vulnerable against the cold and dry weather, and once chapped it takes relatively longer time to heal. You can opt for any flavoured lip balm you like but never forget to apply a generous coat of the same, especially before stepping out of your home.

# Organic Lip-Care Products

Various Indian doctors, and even our elders, say that using home remedies for skin and hair care is the best option. Before you retired to bed, exfoliate your lips and apply a generous coat of ghee on your lips. The medicinal and amazing moisturising properties of ghee makes it one of the best lip-care products ever! If you want to better this, use ayurvedic ghee (available in ayurvedic medical stores), which also has goodness of herbs and spices such as neem extract, clove oil, etc.

# Moisturising Lip Colours

This winter ditch the super-matte and drying lip colours and opt for creme-based moisturising ones. They contain enough moisturising substances to protect your lips not only from cold and dry weather but also from sun’s UV rays during daytime (nowadays, many lip products have some amount of SPF content.

# Lip-Care Habits

This one is very important since your habits determine how your treat your body. In winters, no matter how dry you feel your lips are becoming, DO NOT lick them. Saliva makes your lips’ skin even drier, making you want to lick them again and again. Also, if you feel your oral commissure (the triangular corner parts where your lips meet) is too dry, make sure you DO NOT stretch them. Apply a generous coating of lip balm or ghee (if at home) and wait for sometime until the commissures are moisturised. Otherwise, they will tear and, needless to say, you will feel a lot of irritation and urge to keep licking. This will also make the skin there even drier.
