Your skin is the largest organ in your body. It’s the part of us that protects us from the harsh environment around us. So you can imagine that it takes quite the beating. That’s why it’s important to follow these basic habits when it comes to skincare. Your skin will definitely be grateful.
# Drink Lots Of Water
You’ve heard it before but we’re going to tell you again because we can’t stress this enough. Water is essential to keep nutrients in your body circulating. The more water you drink, the more likely that the nutrients you eat are actually going to benefit your skin. Not to mention, collagen, the protein that keeps your skin elastic and free of wrinkles, needs water to form. Water requirement varies from person to person, but about 6-8 glasses is a great place to start.
# Eat Healthy
All the junk you eat, especially if it’s oily and greasy, will reflect on your face. Fried foods cause your face to produce more oil. More oil means more breakouts and acne. Eat antioxidant rich fruits and vegetables which will make your skin feel much younger and refreshed. Even if you don’t feel the difference, you’ll definitely see it.
# Exercise Regularly
Exercise gets your blood pumping and the sweat flowing. This is important because the sweat helps detox your skin and dispel any dirt clogged your pores. It also increases circulation which helps your immune system rev up. This keeps infection and bacteria at bay.
# Wash Before And After Gym
As much as you might want to look your best at the gym, forego the makeup. Sweating in makeup will only clog your pores and you’ll end up missing out on the actual detoxifying benefits of sweating. Make sure you wash your face before you work out to make sure your pores are not clogged up. But make sure that you wash immediately after as well. Ideally, you should shower right at the gym if you work out there.
# Wipe Your Phone Screen
Your phone screens can carry all sorts of bacteria and oil from our fingers and our hair. When you take a call, this transfers to your face. If you notice yourself breaking out or developing a rash on your cheeks, try carrying antibacterial wipes with you and use them on your phone screen regularly.
# Wash Makeup Brushes
As much as this can seem bothersome, it’s extremely important that you do. Otherwise, if you have had acne before, and you regularly wear makeup, you’re just transferring the bacteria back on to your face causing more breakouts. And never, ever, share your makeup or makeup brushes with other people. Try using olive oil and an antibacterial soap to do the job.
