Hibiscus (gudhal) is a plant known for its large colorful flowers. They can be red, yellow, white, or peach-colored and can be as big as 6 inches wide. The most popular variety is Hibiscussabdariffa. The red flowers of this variety are mostly cultivated for medical purposes and are available as dietary supplements. This plant grows in warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the year.
* Anti-aging
Hibiscus has great anti-aging properties because it maintains elastin in the skin by decreasing the activity of elastase, an enzyme that breaks down our skin’s natural elastin. When elastin level declines with age our skin starts sagging. Hibiscus has vitamin C which maintains the elastin level. Apply a face pack of hibiscus powder on the face once a week for a promising result. You can try our hibiscus enriched cream.
* Hair cleanser
Hibiscus helps in removing oil and dirt from the scalp. Boil a few dried hibiscus leaves in abundant water to make tea consistency. Pour this on your hair and scalp at last rinse. Hair will look and feel soft.
* Smoother Hair
For soft, silky and luscious hair you can always depend on hibiscus. Make a paste using hibiscus powder and aloe vera gel. Apply it to your hair at least twice a week. Regular use of this paste will not only add shine to your hair but also make it strong so it bounces with life.
* Hair fall
The brightly hued hibiscus flowers are rich in nutrients such as amino acids that are necessary for producing keratin, the building blocks of our hair. These flowers are capable of stimulating hair regrowth. Mix crushed hibiscus flowers with coconut oil and apply this on scalp and hair. This promotes hair growth and even helps in managing bald patches.
* Natural conditioner
Leaves and flowers from the hibiscus plant are incredibly moisturizing. When we crush the petals of hibiscus, our hands become slimy due to the high amount of mucilage content. This is one of the reasons hibiscus flowers are a common ingredient found in hair products meant for curly, frizzy hair to provide slip and hold while sealing in the moisture. Crush around 6 to 7 flowers and add enough water to make a fine paste. Apply this paste on your scalp and hair and keep it for an hour. Rinse with cold water.
* Premature Greying
The flowers of this plant are beneficial for people suffering from premature greying of hair. Nowadays our diet, environment, and stress create a huge impact on our hair and skin. Traditionally, Hibiscus was used as a natural dye to mask grey hair. The antioxidants and vitamins present in Hibiscus help in producing melanin, the naturally occurring pigment that gives hair its natural color.
