Flashback - 5 New Players That Shocked IPL 2017

There have been instances where Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed careers of the players overnight. This happens every year and it is kind of a tradition and purpose of the league. Players like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja all shot to fame because of this cash-rich league. These players are now regular members of the Indian cricket team.

* Chirag Suri

Chirag Suri was happy enough that he was included in the list of players for the auction. This happened because of his performances during the warm-up games he played against the IPL teams in 2014; when a part of the tournament was held in Dubai.

* Nicholas Pooran

Nicholas Pooran has played in the Carribean Premier League but is still in the league of unknowns. Having played for Trinidad and Tobago in the domestic circuit and for Red Steel, in the CPL he has made his name for his destructive batting.

* Krishnappa Gowtham


K Gowtham made his first-class debut in 2012 but was forgotten for some reasons returned to the fore last season made a good impression with the selectors picking 18 wickets in just three matches. He impressed everyone with his off-break.

* Mohammad Siraj

Mohammad Siraj, a son of an auto driver managed to turn his life around with a deal worth INR 2.6 crore in the IPL 2017 auction. It was the local franchise – Sunrisers Hyderabad who made the best bid to sign the pacer. To make this more awesome he will be playing for his hometown Hyderabad.

* Rovman Powell

Rovman Powell was unheard before he was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction. He grabbed the attention of the IPL talent scouts when he smashed a 45-ball 95 in a semi-final for Jamaica in the domestic circuit of West Indies and that won him the contract as well.
